Almost a year ago, the Foundation for Boyertown Education approved a grant for Pennsylvania Trout in the Classroom, giving students at Boyertown Middle School East a hands-on way to learn about watershed conservation, ecosystems, habitats, and natural resources.

Last week, the trout eggs arrived!  Students will monitor water quality and track the life cycle of the trout as they grow in the coldwater tank before being released into local streams. While the trout are still tiny (you can’t see them yet!), we can’t wait to watch their progress!

Even the art teacher Mr. Fegely got involved, creating an original painting to help protect the eggs. It truly takes a village to give our students the best education, and we’re proud to support this project—and many more!

The Foundation, founded in 2013, is composed of community-based volunteers and is a registered and independent, 501 (c)(3), non-profit organization. A volunteer board of Boyertown residents and business leaders- representing a variety of communities throughout our district-raises and allocates funds independent of the Boyertown Area School Board and District.
